Development Corporation for Children

Development Corporation for Children (DCC) was created in 1991 and specializes in the business side of child care. DCC is based in Minnesota and is active throughout the Midwest. We have two primary divisions:

First Children’s Finance. This rapidly expanding division makes loans to licensed child care centers and family child care homes for renovation, expansion, or purchase of facilities. We make direct loans and work with states to design and implement child care facility lending strategies that are cost effective, bring public and private investors to the table, and are compatible with local technical assistance and training initiatives.

Child Care Business Development Center. DCC’s Business Development Center offers:

  • Childcare Facility Development
  • Childcare Community Planning
  • Business Management and Financial Training
  • Business and Financial Technical Assistance

DCC has offered these services in Minnesota over twelve years. In addition to continuing to expand our local services we are also helping other states create Child Care Business Development Centers. We think that this focus is a good companion to lending, helps to create a uniform standard for business practices, establishes a mechanism for attracting public and private investment, and is an approach to business training and technical assistance that can be integrated with other child care professional development.
