The FUND’s mission is to expand the supply of high-quality child care space available to low and moderate income families in Massachusetts.
We do this primarily by providing grant and loan financing, training and technical assistance, and other forms of support to non-profit child care providers that
are planning facilities improvement or expansion projects, in effect bridging the worlds of child care and real estate development and finance. Since our start in 1991, we have:
-
Made child care facilities loans and grants totaling $14.9 million;
-
Invested in 267 child care facilities projects;
-
Helped to create or improve 14,472 child care slots, 81% of which serve low-income children;
-
Leveraged over $25 million in outside funding for these projects.
-
Provided intensive training to 35 center-based child care providers and 90 home-based providers in how to plan and implement a successful and high-quality facilities project.
